The SIKH ORPHAN FUND was founded in 2002, by individuals in England (UK) concerned at the dire state of orphans in Panjaab resulting from the violence and genocide of 1984 in Panjaab and thereafter. The quiet dedicated work of the SHAHEED BHAI FAUJA SINGH CHARITABLE TRUST was gaining increasing attention across the global Panjaabi community. Through its founder co-ordinator (Bibi Amarjeet Kaur), and a team of volunteers, the TRUST was providing dedicated care and service to 200 orphaned children. In the absence of any state or official provision for these children, the TRUST has been the lifeline for these destitute abandoned children.
BHAI FAUJA SINGH (1936 -1978)
The SHAHEED BHAI FAUJA SINGH CHARITABLE TRUST was founded by Bibi Amarjeet Kaur in 1989 in the memory of Bhai Fauja Singh (1936 -1978). He was a much-revered figure in the Sikh community of Panjaab for his pious qualities and shining example of the caring communal ideals practised by the Ten Gurus (1469-1708) of Panjaab. For details on his life go to the Link pages.
Bibi Amarjeet Kaur, a former school head-teacher and wife of Bhai Fauja Singh, and a dedicated gursikh like her husband; has dedicated her energies over the last 20 years to the charitable work of the TRUST. Amarjeet Kaur has been a bountiful motherly figure to these 200 orphaned children. She has provide them with a home, emotional love, schooling and a caring family atmosphere. This is an example of the quiet frontline service which altruistic persons are doing across Panjaab and across the world, without any official support or assistance. Bibi Amarjeet Kaur is truly an example of Panjaab's many dedicated individuals who have given everything of themselves to the broken, hurt, aggrieved society of Panjaab.

The SHAHEED BHAI FAUJA SINGH CHARITABLE TRUST is entirely dependent on the support of supporting groups and individuals. It receives no funding from any government or official source. The SIKH ORPHAN FUND has made it their mission to act as an international voice for the work of the CHARITABLE TRUST. The SIKH ORPHAN FUND aims to gather not only funds, but, also, various forms of support and developmental assistance for the CHARITABLE TRUST. Panjaab is a massively neglected region of the world. Many of its social, health, environmental, educational, human rights and poverty problems continue to go unacknowledged and unaddressed by global world bodies like the UNITED NATIONS and EUROPEAN UNION. Panjaab is in the thick of ethnic, environmental, social and political crisis - a 'forgotten Palestine'. Distress, agony, poverty, violence, human rights atrocities, disorder and decay, corruption and maladministration is widespread, and routinley impacts on the quality of life of Panjaab's people and, in turn, the failure of assistance and provision to the disadvantaged and destitute.
Over the next four years, the SIKH ORPHAN FUND aims to develop its capacity in order to engage international funding and the European Union and United Nations to invest in the much needed work of Panjaab's children. We, welcome the support of individuals and groups who feel they can offer assistance in this development, together with individuals able to volunteer time and effort in going out to the CHARITABLE TRUST in Amritsar on a periodical basis.
